Magalit, Martinovic Both Qualify for Main Draw at ITA Regionals

PRINCETON, N.J. – Alester Magalit and Aleksa Martinovic both earned a pair of singles wins during the first day of the 2018 ITA Regionals, as both freshman will now advance to the main draw singles event.

Magalit topped La Salle's Colin Lucius (6-1, 6-2) and Juan Manuel Sanchez of Drexel (6-3, 3-6, 10-3), while Martinovic topped Monmouth's Alberto Guiffrida (6-0, 6-2) and Army's Alejandro Quiros (6-3, 6-2)

With the singles win, Martinovic has now won eight matches so far in 2018-19, while Magalit has recorded six singles wins.

Day 2 action resumes at the 2018 ITA Regionals tomorrow from Cordish Family Pavilion and Lenz Tennis Center. Aleksa Martinovic, Alester Magalit and Freddie Zaretsky will all participate in a round-of-128 singles match, while Axel Stern and Aleksa Martinovic will participate in the main draw doubles event.
