
Saint Peter's Defends Home Court, Defeats QU Men's Basketball 84-58

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team jumped out to a quick double-figure lead at 16-6 and never looked back as it captured an 84-58 win over Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon at the Yanitelli Center. Cameron Young (Los Angeles, Calif.) had 16 of his team-high 18 points in the first half for the Bobcats, while Nick Griffin led all scorers for Saint Peter's with 22.

- Saint Peter's led by 15 at the break and the Bobcats were never able to dent the margin in the second half.
- Senior guard Cameron Young hit his second three-pointer in the early going cut Saint Peter's lead to 7-6, but the Peacocks used a 9-0 run to push it to double figures for the first time at 16-6
- A Young basket had the Bobcats within 26-15, but Saint Peter's used a quick 8-0 run out of a media timeout to take its largest lead of the half at 34-15.
- Freshman Jacob Rigoni (Adelaide, Australia) had four points in the final minutes of the first half on a three-pointer and a foul shot, but the Peacocks were able to take a 43-28 lead into the break.
- Young finished with 18 points after scoring 16 in the first half, while senior forward Chaise Daniels (Meriden, Conn.) had 16 off the bench.
- Quinnipiac was held to just 29.1 percent (16-55), including 9-34 from three-point territory.
- Saint Peter's finished last year as the champions of the CollegeInsider.com Invitational Tournament (CIT), but graduated four starters off that team.
