
QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Falls To Baylor, 279-273, In NCATA Semifinals

AZUSA, California – The Quinnipiac University acrobatics & tumbling team's season ended in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Semifinals with a 279.325-273.945 loss to No. 2 Baylor at Azusa Pacific University. With the loss, Quinnipiac's season ends at 6-2 while Baylor improves to 8-1 on the year.
Baylor swept the first three events of the night, winning the Compulsory, 38.10-36.30, before taking the Acro Event, 29.40-29.05. The Bobcats had a solid showing the event, posting a 9.70 in the 5-Element, a 9.75 in the 6-Element and a 9.60 in the 7-Element. Quinnipiac on the board with their first heat win of the night in the Pyramid Open Heat with a meet-high 9.95, but Baylor squeaked out a 29.40-28.75 win the event to take a 96.90-94.10 lead into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, Quinnipiac snagged the Toss Event with wins in two of three heats to produce a 28.55-28.20 victory in the fourth event of the night. The Bobcats won the Synchronized heat, 9.25-9.20, and the Open Heat, 9.80-9.40. Baylor responded with a 57.676-54.475 win in the Tumbling Event, sweeping all six heats despite some of the higher scores of the night for the Bobcats.
Trailing 182.775-177.125, the Bobcats needed six points to make up the difference in Baylor's lead. The Bobcats pulled out a victory in the Team Event, outscoring Baylor, 96.820-96.550, but ultimately fell to the Bears, 279.325-273.945.

Quinnipiac qualified in the following events:

- The Pyramid Open team comprised of Abby Ziser, Jenna Adams, Allee Tallman, Noelle Brasier, Jenna Capristo and Jocelyn Saber posted a match-leading 9.95. The squad posted a 10.00 in the Bobcats' quarterfinal victory against Alderson Broaddus on Thursday, Apr. 27.
- The Synchronized Toss team consisting of Alyssa O'Connor, Samantha Gormley, Siobhan Robinson, Alexandra Williams, Jordan Sack, Kelsey Rule, Jenna Adams, Allee Tallman, Noelle Brasier and Jenna Capristo scored a 9.25 in a heat victory.
- The Open Toss Team of Kelsey Rule, Jenna Adams, Allee Tallman, Noelle Brasier and Jenna Capristo posted a 9.80 for a win.
- In the Tumbling Event, Jenna Capristo posted a 9.525 in the Aerial Pass, Alyssa O'Connor scored a 9.425 in the 6-Element Pass and Kelsey Rule posted a 9.775 in the Open Pass.
NCATA INDIVIDUAL EVENT QUALIFIERS
- The NCATA National Individual Event Championships are slated for Saturday, Apr. 29 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST before the NCATA National Championship match at 7 PM PST/10 PM EST.
- The event finals consist of the four highest-scoring teams in each acro, pyramid, toss and tumbling heat of a sanctioned NCATA meet, with some heats featuring additional teams qualified due to a tie.
- The second-seeded Baylor Bears will compete in an event-leading 18 heats, followed by tournament top-seed Oregon and third-seeded Quinnipiac, who will vie for national titles in 11 heats apiece.
- Last season, Quinnipiac won the Six-Element Acro, with Abby Ziser, Allee Tallman and Noelle Brasier posting a 9.80, and the Synchronized Toss, with Taylor Johnson, Allee Tallman, Catherine Toma, Noelle Brasier, Jenna Capristo, Kelsey Rule, Kayla McCormack, Jordan Cavallaro, Stephanie Amaral and Allie Williams posting a 9.50.
