
Julian Rozenstein Wins 100th Career Match in QU Men's Tennis 6-1 Win Over Fairfield

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac men's tennis team was able to cruise past MAAC rival Fairfield, 6-1 on Wednesday, April 19 at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts in the team's regular season home finale.
With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 10-9 (5-1 MAAC), while Fairfield falls to 6-13 (3-2 MAAC).
Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) earned two victories on the day, but his win in doubles gave him 100 wins for his career. Rozenstein finished the day with 101 career wins, with 59 coming in singles competition and 42 coming in doubles.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California), Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California), Axel Stern (Tustin, California) and Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) all earned two victories on the day as well.
The day began with the No. 2 doubles match, where Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) and Stern teamed up to defeat Ethan Ammon and Jeffrey Rodgers, 6-3. The win was the duo's 14th win of the season, which is tops on the team. Ezaka and Alper followed with a 6-4 win over Tyler Shibles and Dylan Appel to clinch the doubles point for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac clinched the doubles sweep after Rozenstein and Cachapero defeated Brad Orban and Anthony Caputo, 7-6 (3). After the three doubles wins, Quinnipiac now owns an impressive 17-1 record against MAAC competition in doubles play.
Quinnipiac capitalized on its 1-0 lead and added five wins in singles play. Stern gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead after he swept Ammon in the No. 4 singles match, 6-2 and 6-1 in straight sets. Alper added to Quinnipiac's lead after he defeated Appel in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1. Rozenstein clinched the duel win for Quinnipiac after he swept Caputo in the No. 2 singles match, 6-3 and 6-2. The win was Rozenstein's 15th singles win on the season and his fourth-straight singles win, which is the longest active-streak on the team.
Cachapero followed with a sweep over Rodgers in the No. 3 singles match, 6-3 and 6-4, for his 10th singles win of the season. Yannone then took the court, falling to Shibles in a tough, three-set loss. Shibles took the first set, but Yannone took the second, 4-6. However, Yannone could not maintain momentum and fell in the final set, 6-4.
Ezaka closed the afternoon with a win over Orban in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-6 (4), from the No. 1 spot. The win boosts his career-total to a program record of 142 wins. He now has 70 singles wins, which is second all-time in program history and 72 doubles wins, which is third all-time in program history.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, April 23, when Quinnipiac travels to take on MAAC rival Monmouth at 2 p.m. to close the regular season.
