
QU Acrobatics & Tumbling Tops King, 277-268, For Second-Straight Victory

BRISTOL, Tennessee – Quinnipiac acrobatics & tumbling won its second-straight meet with a 277.370-268.195 victory against King University in Bristol, Tennessee. With the victory, Quinnipiac improves to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in ECAC Acrobatics & Tumbling while King drops to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the ECAC.
For the first time this season, Quinnipiac – ranked No. 3 nationally in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Preseason Poll – swept all five events and the team event.
Quinnipiac then followed with a 29.05-28.95 win in the Acro Event, led by a 9.65 in Heat 1 featuring Alexandra Williams (Poughkeepsie, New York), Jenna Adams (Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey) as well as Mancini and Brasier. The Bobcats then followed with a 29.50-29.15 win in the Pyramid Event, which featured back-to-back scores of 9.90 in the Synchronized and Open heats.
The first half resulted in a 96.40-95.45 lead heading into the break. Coming out of the break, the Bobcats took eight of the last nine heats in the Toss and Tumbling Events.
In the Tumbling Event, Quinnipiac rattled off four-straight heat victories in the Duo Pass (9.000), featuring Rule and Capristo; the Triple Pass (8.950), featuring Ziser, Gormley and Tallman; the Quad Pass (8.550), featuring Alyssa O'Connor (Smithtown, New York), Mancini, Gerndt and Werner; and the Aerial Pass (9.625) that featured Capristo. Knight then took the 6 Element Pass, despite Quinnipiac posting a 9.550. Quinnipiac's Rule then responded with a 9.625 in the Open Pass to take the event, 55.300-53.025.
The meet culminated in the team event in which the Bobcats posted a 96.170 to King's 91.770. The Bobcats score was their second-best Team Event tally of the season, falling just short of the squad's score against Alderson Broaddus on Thursday, Mar. 16.
The Bobcats are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 25 when they host Glenville State at 12 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena.

- Heat 2 resulted in a 9.90 and featured Michelle Defillippo (Waterbury, Connecticut), Kelly, Erin Redding (Farmington, Connecticut), Williams, Alexandra Barnes (Waldord, Maryland), Abby Ziser (Pompton Plains, New Jersey) and Grace Manthey (Anchorage, Alaska) in addition to Adams, Tallman, Brasier and Capristo.
