
Liberty Outlasts QU Men's Basketball in Paradise Jam Finale 84-72

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball team led by five early in the second half, but host Liberty was able to use a couple of scoring runs over the final 15 minutes to take an 84-72 win over the Bobcats in the seventh-place game on the final day of the Paradise Jam at the Vines Center in Lynchburg, Va. Senior guard Cameron Young (Los Angeles, Calif.) matched his career high with 26 points for the Bobcats, which he set two days ago against Colorado.

GAME NOTES
- Quinnipiac began the tournament on Friday with a near-upset of Colorado, leading the Buffaloes by 13 points with four minutes to go (60-47) before falling 70-69 at the buzzer. The Bobcats also fell to Wake Forest 72-55 on Saturday.
- Quinnipiac took a 39-35 lead into halftime after shooting 67 percent in the opening half (14-21), including 7-13 from three.
- Young had 16 points in the first half (5-7 from the floor, 4-6 from three), before finishing 9-15 from the floor (5-11 from three).
- Quinnipiac led by five at 45-40 after a three-pointer from junior guard Andrew Robinson (Takoma Park, Md.), but Liberty used a 9-1 run to take a 49-46 lead with 13:15 left.
- After the Bobcats were within one point, Lovell Cabill had two straight three-pointers for a personal 6-0 run to give Liberty a 59-52 lead.
- A three-pointer from freshman guard Rich Kelly (Shelton, Conn.) got Quinnipiac within 61-58, but a 9-0 Liberty run, capped by a Cabill three-point play, put Liberty up 70-58 with 3:30 left.
- Kelly hit a three-pointer to cut the Liberty lead to 74-67 and another to cut it to 76-70 with 1:06 left, but the Bobcats could come no closer. Kelly finished with a personal-best 18 points on the day.
- Daniels fouled out with only nine points on 4-5 shooting, the first game this season he has been held below double figures.
- Quinnipiac had only one offensive rebound, which came late in the game from junior guard Aaron Robinson (Takoma Park, Md.), who had five points, a personal best.
