
QU Women’s Ice Hockey Defeats Providence 1-0 in Home Opener Behind Ives’ Shutout

HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team defeated Providence College in their 2017 home opener on Saturday afternoon, 1-0, behind a shutout from goalie Abbie Ives. Ives, who collected 37 saves on the afternoon, posted the team's first shutout of the year against a Friar squad that had averaged over 5 goals per game this season. The lone goal scorer of the day was the Bobcats' Abby Cleary (Buffalo, New York), who finished a rebound off a shot from Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) in the 2nd period.
