
QU Women's Ice Hockey Defeats Vermont 4-1 Behind Bonsteel's First Career Goals

HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team took down Vermont 4-1 behind freshman Brooke Bonsteel's first career goals. The team allowed just 16 shots on net, a season low. Anna Kilponen tallied her first goal at Quinnipiac, as Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout picked up her team-leading third goal of the season.

- 5:32: 1st Period (QU 1-0) After solid defensive pressure from Vermont on the penalty kill, Kenzie Lancaster got the puck to Anna Kilponen who rifled a shot off from the blue line, her first goal of the year.
- 4:42: 2nd Period (QU 2-0) Immediately after winning the faceoff, Laura Lundbald was able to get Brooke Bonsteel the puck who found a hole for the score. The goal was Bonsteel's first of her career.
- 4:07: 2nd Period (QU 2-1) Right in the front of the net, Allie Granato got the puck to Val Caldwell, who tapped the puck in past Abbie Ives.
- 9:54 3rd Period (QU 3-1) After Kenzie Lancaster's shot bounced off Vermont goalie Sydney Scobee, Randi Marcon found an open Brooke Bonsteel, who netted her second goal of the day.
- 45.7: 3rd Period (QU 4-1) Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout picked up her third goal of the season after the Catamounts pulled their goalie.
NOTES
- Junior Anna Kilponen (Orivesi, Finland) scored the first goal of the game for the Bobcats. The goal was her first goal of the season, and her first at Quinnipiac.
- Freshman Brooke Bonsteel (Mississauga, Ontario) tallied her first two collegiate goals and two points in her first ever multi-goal game. One of the goals came on the power play.
- Before Bonsteel, the last Bobcat to score multiple goals in a game was Meghan Turner. She recorded a hat trick against Brown on February 3, 2017.
- Sophomore Sarah-Eve Coutu Godbout (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) picked up her team leading third goal of the year.
- Junior Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) tallied a team-leading seven shots on the day, increasing her season total to 21.
- The Bobcats were 2-for-4 on the power play, increasing their season conversion rate to .222 (4-for-18).
