
QU Women's Golf Finishes 8th At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, New Hampshire – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished eighth at the Dartmouth Invitational at Hanover Country Club in Hanover, New Hampshire. Junior Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) was the Bobcats' top finisher for the tournament, tied for 25th out of 78 golfers.
Quinnipiac's second-day 307 checks-in as the top round of the year for the Bobcats and the third-best 18-hole round of all-time, while its 625 is the second-best 36-hole score in Quinnipiac history.
Boston College won the event with a two-day total of 584 ( 8), followed by St. John's (602, 26), Dartmouth (611, 35), Sacred Heart (611, 35), Central Connecticut State (614, 38), Dartmouth B (619, 43) and Albany (622, 46) finishing ahead the Bobcats. Quinnipiac shot a 317 on the first round before following with a 307 for a two-day total of 625 ( 48). The Bobcats finished ahead of Boston University, Wagner, Hartford, Siena, Fairfield and Holy Cross.
Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) entered the day tied for 56th after shooting an 84 for the first round. She trimmed 10 strokes off her day to match Morales' 74 for the top score of the fall to finish at 158 ( 14) and tied for 33rd for the tournament.
For Morales, she followed her first-day 82 with a 74 ( 2) to shave eight strokes off her previous day tally. It stands as Morales' top score of all-time, as well as the top score of the 2016-17 season. She finished the tournament tied for 25th with a 156 ( 12), which was also her top 36-hole score of her career.
Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) finished just behind Morales with a two-day tally of 157 ( 13). Tobia-Palza shot a 77 on Saturday before carding an 80 on Sunday. Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) followed her first-round 77 with an 83 on Sunday to finish with a 159 ( 15) for a tie of 37th place while freshman Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut) produced her fifth sub-80 score in her first six 18-hole collegiate rounds. Sazhin shot an 82 on Saturday before following with a 79 on Sunday.
Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) logged the second-best 36-hole score of her career, finishing with a 161 for the tournament. Ribbins, playing as an individual, shot a 79 on Saturday before following with an 82 on Sunday.
Quinnipiac is back in action on Oct. 10-11 for the sixth annual Quinnipiac Classic at New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Connecticut.
