JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Quinnipiac baseball pitcher Thomas Jankins (West Brookfield, Massachusetts) pitched eight scoreless innings to lead the Bobcats to a 3-0 victory over the North Florida Ospreys at Harmon Field on Friday night.
Jankins struck out seven batters in the win on Friday night to earn his second win of the season. It is the fourth time in his career that Jankins has tossed at least eight shutout innings. The Bobcats' right-hander scattered seven hits and walked just one batter for the victory. Jankins recorded strikeouts in six of the eight innings in the game.
Quinnipiac's win was its sixth of the season as the Bobcats improve to 6-8 while North Florida falls to 11-9 and their five-game winning streak was snapped.
Ryan Nelson (Knoxville, Tennessee) was the offensive leader for the Bobcats against the Ospreys as he hit his first home run of the season and third of his career. Nelson was the only Bobcat with multiple hits as he went 2 for 4.
Lou Iannotti (North Haven, Connecticut) extended his hitting streak to 14 games as he went 1 for 4 with a RBI while John Bodenhamer (Maple Valley, Washington) was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.
Closer Alex Vargas (New York, New York) recorded his fourth save of the season as he struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the shutout for the Bobcats.

Iannotti followed Pescitelli with a 0-2 single through the right side of the infield that scored Moskey from second base.
