No. 4/4 QU Women's Ice Hockey Wraps Up Historic Season with 1-0 Loss vs. No. 5/5 Clarkson

HAMDEN, Connecticut – The nationally-ranked No. 4/4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team's record-breaking season came to a close on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to the nationally-ranked No. 5/5 Clarkson Golden Knights in a NCAA Tournament Regional Game at High Point Solutions Arena.
Quinnipiac wraps up its season with a program record 30 wins, going 30-3-5 (16-2-4 ECAC Hockey) while Clarkson records a 30-win season of its own with a 30-4-5 (14-3-5 ECAC Hockey) record.
Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) played one of her best games of the season despite the loss for the Bobcats as she recorded 28 saves on 29 shots. Rossman's 28 saves are the second most she has recorded in a game in her career.
Clarkson took a 1-0 lead just 10 seconds into contest as Renata Fast picked up a turnover in the offensive zone to before rifling a shot past Rossman. Fast's goal is the fastest goal in NCAA women's ice hockey tournament history.
The Bobcats had by far their best season in program history as they set numerous program records in addition to their win total. The 2015-16 women's ice hockey team recorded the most goals in program history (118), assist (188), home wins (18), highest winning percentage (.855), highest power play percentage (25 percent), highest penalty kill (92.5 percent), lowest GAA (0.90), and fewest goals allowed (35).
Head coach Cassandra Turner set the NCAA Record for wins by a first year women's ice hockey head coach by recording 30 wins this season.
Individually, Rossman set the program record for fewest goals allowed (35), lowest GAA (0.90), and most wins (30) while her .949 save percentage was the second highest in program history and her 16 shutouts were tied for the most in program history, as well as the third most in NCAA women's ice hockey history.
Nicole Connery (Newmarket, Ontario) and Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) both reached the 100-point mark this season to become the third and fourth players in program history. Kosta will wrap up her career with 123 points while Connery posted 102 points, and was just the third player in program history to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists in a career.
Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) recorded the third most points in single-season program history with 52 while her 28 goals were tied for the second most in a season in program history. Her 45 career goals through just 74 career games are the second most in program history behind Kelly Babstock's 95.
In addition to these players, numerous others on the team this season set new personal career-highs as part of the Bobcats' historic season.
