Ten Bobcats PIcked up Personal-Bests in Seven Different Events
BOSTON, Massachusetts – Personal bests came in several events for the Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team on Friday at the Terrier Invite on the campus of Boston University. In all, 10 different personal-bests were broken on the day in seven different events (200m, 400m, 500m, 1000m, 3000m, 5000m, Shot Put) while Jessica Lee (Montgomery, New Jersey) picked up the lone Top 10 finish on the day as she took 3rd place in the 60m hurdles.
Lee's fourth Top 5 finish of the 2015-16 season extends what is a breakout campaign for the second-year Bobcat. Already established as the best hurdler in program history, Lee nearly came away with her second individual victory of the season as she placed 3rd out of 82 in the 60m hurdles. Lee came just 0.04 seconds shy of matching her program record as she has already bested her freshman season-high time of 8.80 seconds three times.
Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Connecticut) shook off the rust from winter break and finished with a couple productive performances as she took 15th place out of 142 in the 400m and followed that up placing 19th out of 189 in the 200m. Samuels did not record a new personal-best on the day but she still put together successful times including 55.93 seconds in the 400m and 24.72 seconds in the 200m dash.
Kristen Ulrich (Clark, New Jersey) put together the best 400m time of her four-year career as she set a new personal-best with a time of 57.12 seconds. Ulrich improved on her previous personal-best of 57.33 seconds set on Jan. 23, 2015 and managed to place 30th out of 142 in what is her signature event.
Another Bobcat standout on the day was sophomore Kaleigh Roberts (Higganum, Connecticut) who took 18th place out of 103 runners in the 3000m. Not only did Roberts' time of 9:50.41 set a new personal-best, she also moved all the way up from 7th to 3rd on the all-time 3000m list at Quinnipiac. Roberts' previous personal-best of 9:58.88 set on the same course on Feb. 28, 2015 was cut down by more than eight seconds.
