
QU Women's Ice Hockey's Erica Uden Johansson to Compete with Sweden at IIHF Women's World Championship

Johanneshov, Sweden – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey senior forward Erica Uden Johansson (Sundsvall, Sweden) has been named to Sweden's Women's Hockey National Team roster for the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship from March 28 to April 4 in Malmö, Sweden.
Uden Johansson has a lengthy history with the Swedish National Team, competing in the last two Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia and Sochi, Russia, as well as several Four Nations Cup tournaments. This will be Uden Johansson's third IIHF Women's World Championship with the Swedish National Team as she competed with the team in 2009 and 2012.
Sweden will open up the IIHF Women's World Championships against Japan at 7 A.M. EDT on Saturday, March 28. The next day, Sweden plays the first game of the day once again as they take on Switzerland at 6 A.M. EDT. After a day off on Monday, Sweden will face Germany on Tuesday, March 31 at 2 P.M. EDT in the final game of the day. Following the Preliminary Round, the Quarterfinals will begin on Wednesday, April 1 at either 10 A.M. EDT or 2 P.M. EDT with the Semifinals on Friday, April 3 at either 6 A.M. EDT or 10 A.M. EDT. The Bronze Medal game is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th at 6 A.M. and the Gold Medal game is set for 10 A.M. EDT. Sweden's preliminary rounds and the playoff rounds are all to be played in Malmö Isstadion.
This will be Uden Johansson's fifth appearance overall in an international championship tournament (IIHF or Olympics) and she has recorded four goals and three assists for seven points so far in her international championship career.
Uden Johansson and Sweden finished fourth place in the 2014 Winter Olympics, falling in the Bronze Medal game to Switzerland. Uden Johansson scored her only goal of the Olympics in that game.
This season for Quinnipiac, Uden Johansson finished with 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points. Uden Johansson's 15 assists were the most she had recorded in any season while her 25 points tied her career-high, where she also recorded 25 points in her freshman season (2010-11) and her junior season (2012-13). She finished her Quinnipiac career with 42 goals and 54 assists for 96 career points.
Uden Johansson is one of two Quinnipiac women's ice hockey players to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists in her career, joining Kelly Babstock '14 in the exclusive club. Uden Johansson totals ranked third in program history in each category.
Sweden and Uden Johansson will start the IIHF World Championships on Saturday, March 28 against Japan at 7 A.M. EDT.
