COMO, Italy – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team enjoyed a free day in Italy as the travel party spent the day doing a number of various activities on their own time throughout the region.
Many members of the group decided to take the 10-minute tram ride up the mountain to get a complete all-around picturesque view of the gorgeous landscape. With the sun shining down, the views were clear for miles around in the surrounding areas.
Other members of the travel party took the train into Milan for a full day in the Italian city full of historical artifacts including the Duomo of Milan and the Santa Maria della Grazie which houses Leonardo Da Vinci's timeless piece, the Last Supper. A fan favorite of the day in Milan was the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II which was built in 1867 and is lined with shops, coffee bars and restaurants galore.
The players, coaches, staff members, families and supporters all dined throughout Como with some choosing seafood while others went with traditional Italian pasta and a majority of the crowd made a stop for some gelato just around the corner.
Quinnipiac awakes tomorrow morning for a full day of hockey action as they will depart at 10:00 am for a 6:00 pm game against the Swiss National Team. The Bobcats' first international competition will feature a matchup versus Switzerland's National Team which is free off a bronze medal performance in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
