
QU Women's Ice Hockey Checks in at No. 5 for Second Straight Week in USCHO.com Poll

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team stayed put at No. 5 for the second straight week in the latest USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll. Dec. 15 marks the eighth consecutive week that the Bobcats were ranked in the Top Five of the poll.
Quinnipiac also received 96 points in the latest edition of the poll, 13 more points than last week's 83 points.
As of Dec. 15, the Bobcats also stayed at No. 4 in the most up to date Pairwise Rankings behind Boston College, Minnesota and Wisconsin, respectively. Quinnipiac still has the fourth best winning percentage (.8529) and RPI (.6223) in the country.
Not only are the Bobcats ranked fourth in the country, but they also stand in first place in the ECAC Standings with 14 points, one point ahead of Clarkson with 13. Harvard and St. Lawrence are tied for third place with 11 points, with the Crimson playing two fewer ECAC Hockey games so far this season. Just behind Harvard and St. Lawrence are Cornell and Princeton tied for fifth place with 10 points. Cornell also has played two fewer league games to date.

The Top Five of the USCHO.com poll remains unchanged from the previous week but there was movement in the six through 10 slots. Boston College sailed past Dartmouth 6-1 on Wednesday to hold on to the top spot in the poll. Both Minnesota and Wisconsin had the week off as they stay at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Boston University played just one game last Monday, defeating Providence 3-1 and maintain the No. 4 ranking. Quinnipiac stayed put at No. 5 with an idle week. This week brings a tie for No. 6 in the rankings between Harvard and Minnesota-Duluth who received 65 points as both teams had the week off. Another team with the week off was Clarkson, who moved up two spots to No. 8 despite being idle. Bemidji State split a weekend series with St. Cloud State to stay put at No. 9. Mercyhurst dropped four spots in the poll to No. 10 after getting swept by Penn State on the road.
The Bobcats return to action on Friday, Jan. 2 at 7 P.M. in Schenectady, New York when they take on the Union Dutchwomen and Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4 P.M. in Troy, New York when they face the Rensselaer Engineers.
