Davies notched the lone goal of the game and her fifth of the season at the 17:12 mark of the second period. While streaking up the right side, the junior forward collected a pass from sophomore Kate Wheeler (Oakville, Ontario) at center ice and carried it into the offensive zone. Just inside the right faceoff circle, Davies ripped a shot between the pads of the Harvard goaltender into the left corner of the net for the 1-0 lead. The assist was Wheeler's eighth of the season.
Vigilanti stopped 31 shots by the Crimson, recording her third shutout of the season. The save total was just three stops short of her season-high tally. Harvard goaltender Laura Bellamy recorded eight saves in the loss.
The victory marks the first-ever win against Harvard in Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program history. The Bobcats now hold a 1-9-0 record against the Crimson since the teams first met in the 2005-06 season. The conference win also sets a program record for the best conference record held by Quinnipiac in the team's nine-year history.
Quinnipiac returns to action next weekend when they head to Syracuse for a two-game series in upstate New York. The Bobcats and the Orange will face off on Friday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 2 p.m.
