Friday's Game
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team travels to
Teaneck, N.J., Friday at 7 p.m., to take on Fairleigh Dickinson at
University Stadium. The Northeast Conference contest pits the
second-place Bobcats (2-0-1) against the Knights (1-2-1), currently
tied for seventh in the conference standings. Quinnipiac last
played on Monday afternoon, falling to Boston College, 1-0, in its
final nonconference game of the season for its first loss of
2009.
Scouting the Knights
Fairleigh Dickinson hosts the Bobcats' first road NEC game
of the season when the teams square off on Friday. This season, the
Knights are 4-7-1 overall with a 1-2-1 record in NEC play. The team
is led by Dominic Reinold's 12 points on five goals and two
assists. Paul King ranks second on the team with 11 points on a
team-leading five assists and three goals. Majdi Zaineh has made
nine starts in net this season for the Knights, posting a .674 save
percentage and a goals-against average of 1.40.
The Last Game
In the Bobcats' last game, Quinnipiac fell to Boston
College, 1-0, Monday afternoon at the Newton Campus Soccer and
Lacrosse Field. Senior goalkeeper Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda)
turned aside four shots in the game and allowed his first goal in
more than 333 minutes of action as the Eagles scored in the 43rd
minute of play.
It's About Time
Freshman forward Philip Suprise (Milwaukee, Wisc.) was
named the adidas/NEC Rookie of the Week. Suprise was
honored for the first collegiate three-goal game of his career. The
hat trick powered the Bobcats to a 3-0 win over Bryant on Friday,
Oct. 9.
Rankings
The Bobcats landed in the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Rankings for the fourth
time this season. Quinnipiac is currently fifth in the North
Atlantic Region.
Where He Stands
Hall is first in the NEC in save percentage this season,
posting a figure of .925. He is also first in the league in saves
per game at 6.73. Coming into Monday's game with Boston College,
Hall's .933 save percentage ranked second in the nation, while his
goal-against average of 0.45 ranked ninth in Division I.
It's All About Defense
Prior to the 1-0 loss at Boston College, the Bobcats
ranked first in the nation with a .934 team save percentage.
Quinnipiac also ranks in the top 10 nationally in two defensive
categories. The Bobcats ranked seventh in team goals-against
average (0.45) and 10th in shutout percentage (60%).
