Junior co-captain Graciano
Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) scored all three goals,
including the game-winner in the second overtime, as the Bobcats
defeated Army 3-2 Friday in West Point, N.Y. With the game tied at
two goals apiece in sudden death overtime, Brito managed to get
behind the defense and dribbled in for his fourth goal of the
season, giving the Bobcats the 3-2 victory.
Quinnipiac struck early with a Brito goal in the seventh minute,
but Army's Cole Dietz tied the game just ten minutes later. The
Bobcats went into halftime with a 2-1 lead thanks to Brito's second
goal of the game in the 30th minute.
The Bobcats held the lead until the 55th minute of the second half,
when Army's John Kubeika, who assisted on Army's first goal, scored
his first goal of the season. The score remained tied 2-2 until
Brito's game-winner, his third of the game and fourth of the
season. All three of Brito's goals Friday were unassisted.
Sophomore Alexander
Rouselle (Morrisville, Vt.) started in goal for the Bobcats in
place of regular starter Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda), who is
finishing up a national tournament in Cuba. Rouselle allowed two
goals before giving way to fellow sophomore Wade
Johnson (Portland, Ore.), who held Army scoreless in his 24
minutes in goal.
With the win, the Quinnipiac men's soccer team is now 3-0 on the
season, equaling the best start in school history. The Bobcats will
take on Marist on Sunday in their second game of the Army Fall
Classic in West Point, N.Y. at 2:30 p.m.
