The Quinnipiac University baseball team will be honored by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) at the NEIBA All-Star Game at Fenway Park on June 22. The Bobcats were named the top Division I baseball program in New England after holding onto the No. 1 spot in the NEIBA weekly poll for the final three weeks of the season. The award is the team's first such honor at the Division I level.
"This is just another great accomplishment by our team," said Gooley."It is a testament to the hardwork put in by the players, the coaching staff and the athletics administration. It's a tribute to all of them."
"This was a terrific year. After winning a school record 29 games this season, this is the icing on the cake."
Earlier in the week, Gooley was selected as an assistant for the University Division team in the NEIBA All-Star Game.
This year, he led a Quinnipiac team that finished the year at
29-18-1 record, which set a new program mark for wins in a season.
Quinnipiac clinched a share of the Northeast Conference Regular
Season Championship and also the No. 1 seed in the NEC Tournament.
