After scoring two goals and picking up an assist in two road conference victories for the Bobcats (7-0-1) last weekend, junior Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) took home Brine/NEC Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row and third time this season. Brito was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the second time this season.
With the Bobcats engaged in a scoreless battle at Sacred Heart on Friday, Brito took a feed from Danilo Schiavon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and broke through the defense for the game's lone goal in the 75th minute.
On Sunday, the junior's assist on a Schiavon marker in the 68th minute tied things up at 1-1 against Fairleigh Dickinson. Nine minutes later, Brito netted his second game-winner of the week, once again off a setup from Schiavon.
Brito, who leads the NEC with 11 goals, three game-winners and 24 points, has now scored in seven straight matches. He leads all Division I players with 1.4 goals per game and 3.0 points per game.
The Bobcats, one of two remaining undefeated teams in Division I men's soccer, once again received votes for the College Soccer News Top 30 National Poll.
Quinnipiac continues play Tuesday, October 9 when they head to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross, a make-up of a rainout earlier this season. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
