Dennis O’Keefe was a three-year starter and captain of the men’s basketball team for his junior and senior seasons. In his four-year career at Quinnipiac, the men’s basketball team won 71 of the 104 games played. O’Keefe was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year following the 1967, 1968 and 1969 seasons. He was the runner-up for the 1968 College Player of the Year award and, as a senior in 1968–69, he averaged 9.6 points and 10.6 rebounds to lead Quinnipiac to an 18-8 record. For his career, O’Keefe averaged 10.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game
