- Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach
Ray Esposito just completed his sixth season as a volunteer men's lacrosse assistant coach at Quinnipiac University, where he works directly with the team's goalkeepers and face-off specialists.
His work helped walk-on Will Vitelli earn the MAAC Face-Off Specialist of the Year Award in back-to-back seasons (2017 & 2018), and has now helped current QU specialist Demitri George capture the award in back-to-back campaigns (2021 & 2022).
Most recently, Quinnipiac went 2-11 (1-5 in 2022). The Bobcats defeated UMass Lowell in the season-opener, and also defeated Canisius in MAAC action.
Quinnipiac went 4-3 (4-2) in 2021 under the help of Esposito to earn the title of MAAC Co-Regular Season Champions. Demitri George finished second nationally in face-off winning percentage (74.2%), earning MAAC Face-Off Specialist of the Year.
QU's season was cut short after just six games due to the COVID-19 virus in 2020. The Bobcats did not play a MAAC contest in 2020.
In 2019, Espisito helped guide Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse to a 9-7 (5-2 MAAC) record and the program's third-ever appearance in the MAAC Tournament championship contest. Quinnipiac recorded a winning MAAC record for the fourth time in six seasons since joining the conference in 2013-14, earning a No. 2 seed in the postseason tournament.
Esposito came to Quinnipiac from Progression Lacrosse where he served as an assistant coach. While at Progression, Esposito was responsible for teaching and developing skills while instilling proper techniques of the game. A student of the game himself, he was also relied upon for teaching strategy and helping athletes understand lacrosse.
In addition to Progression, Esposito was a longtime coach at the Cheshire Lacrosse Club. There, he served as an assistant coach from 2007-2013. Esposito also referees youth and high school lacrosse games.
Outside of lacrosse, Esposito has been an Expert Chiropractor with close to 20 years of experience. His area of expertise resides in diagnosing disorders of the spine and other body joints; treating those patients whose symptoms result from abnormal muscular-skeletal conditions or joint mechanics through the corrective manipulation of the spinal column of other joints.
Esposito graduated from Long Island University with a degree in business management before attending New York Chiropractic College to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1993. Esposito is on the National Board of Certified Doctor of Chiropractic, a member of the American Chiropractic and Managed Physical Networks.
