Bobcats Host Merrimack in Midweek Action

HAMDEN, CT – Coming off back-to-back wins, the Quinnipiac women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 23, to face the Merrimack Warriors in Hamden. Kickoff from the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium is slated for 2:30 PM and can be seen on GoBobcats.com.

Last time out, the Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Marist Red Foxes, 2-1, for their second straight win, while the Merrimack Warriors dropped their matchup against the Iona Gaels, 2-1.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

The Merrimack Warriors will enter Wednesday's matchup with a 2-5-2 overall record and a 0-2-1 mark in conference play.
The Warriors finished non-conference play 2-3-1, defeating Maine and Bryant, falling to Northeastern, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire, and drawing against Vermont. Merrimack was outscored 15-10 in the six non-conference games this season.
Merrimack is currently 0-2-1 in conference play. The Warriors dropped the Metro opener to Marist, 1-0, then played to a scoreless tie against Saint Peter's in their first home conference game of the year. Last time out, the Warriors dropped a road contest to the Iona Gaels, 2-1.
Seven Warriors have found the back of the net so far this season, with Isabella Keogh leading the way with four tallies. Lucia Antonucci is second on the team with two goals, while five other players have each found the back of the net once.
Merrimack has had two goalkeepers split time this season, with both playing a total of 405 minutes. Kaitlyn Brewi has started all five games she has appeared in, while Addison Israel has started four games in five appearances. Both keepers have allowed nine goals and have recorded 20 or more saves this year.
Last year, the Warriors finished with a 4-12-2 overall record and a 3-9-0 mark in conference action.
Merrimack was picked to finish ninth in the Metro Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll with a total of 72 points.

HISTORY AGAINST MERRIMACK

Wednesday's matchup between the Bobcats and Warriors will mark the third time the two teams have faced off.
Quinnipiac leads the all-time series, 2-0-0, and is 1-0 on its home field.
Last season's matchup was the first meeting in Andover, and the Bobcats took home a 2-1 win. Addyson Earl got the scoring started in the 31st minute, and the game stayed 1-0 until Merrimack tied it in the 78th minute. The game didn't stay tied for too long, as Morgan Cupo netted the game-winner just under four minutes later.

THE A IN "ADDYSON" STANDS FOR ASSISTS

Addyson Earl's name was all over the scoresheet in the 4-1 victory over the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers.
Earl recorded an assist on all four of the Bobcats' goals, earning the primary assist on each goal.
Her four assists tied the Quinnipiac single-game record for assists in a single game, which was set by Courtney Chochol against Siena on Sept. 28, 2022.
Earl is currently tied for the conference lead with four total assists, which is good for 50th in the nation.

THIS GIRL'S ON FIRE

Morgan Cupo continues to find the back of the net in her graduate season, scoring another goal in the win against Marist.
Cupo is up to eight goals on the season, which leads the team and the conference.
Cupo also ranks first in the conference with a total of 18 points this year (eight goals, two assists).
The graduate forward ranks fifth in the country in points per game (2.57), 11th in the NCAA in total goals and 15th in total points.

LAST TIME OUT

Morgan Cupo's strike in the 82nd minute stood as the game-winner in Quinnipiac's 2-1 win over Marist on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats have won back-to-back Metro contests after dropping the conference opener to Niagara.
Stella Tosoni recorded her first collegiate goal with her first-half strike from the corner flag.
Morgan Cupo found the scoresheet once again, scoring her eighth goal of the year and 22nd of her collegiate career.
Cupo now leads the team with eight goals and 18 points. She also leads the conference in both goals and points. Cupo has netted at least one goal in four straight contests.

PRESEASON HONORS

The Quinnipiac women's soccer team was selected third in the Metro Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Thursday, August 6^th.
The Bobcats received 146 points, including one first-place vote. Fairfield was picked to finish first with 164 total points and nine first-place votes, and Sacred Heart was picked second with 151 points and three first-place votes.
Morgan Cupo and Corey Anderson were voted to the Preseason All-Metro Team.

'25 SEASON RECAP

The Bobcats finished last season with an 8-3-6 overall record and an 8-0-4 conference mark.
As the two seed, the Bobcats matched up with the Canisius Golden Griffins in Hamden, and Canisius advanced with a victory in penalty kicks.

HOME COOKING

Quinnipiac posted a 5-0-2 record at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium last season.
The Bobcats continue to defend their home turf, posting a 21-2-3 record over the last three seasons.
Quinnipiac's last regulation loss at home came against the Princeton Tigers back on September 17^th, 2023.

CONFERENCE DOMINANCE

Since 2021, the Bobcats hold a 43-6-5 record in conference play. During this stretch, Quinnipiac has hosted nine postseason tournament contests.
In conference tournament play since the 2021 season, Quinnipiac holds a 7-2-2 record.

HEAD COACH DAVE CLARKE

Head Coach Dave Clarke enters his 28^th season with the Bobcats in 2026. Clarke is 253-206-53 (.546) over his career as a collegiate head coach (2 seasons at New Haven before QU).
Clarke has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac soccer by becoming not only the winningest coach in its history but also leading his team to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2000 and a regular-season championship in 2001.
The Bobcats then won their second consecutive MAAC Championship in 2023, marking their second MAAC Title in program history.

WHO'S BACK?

The Bobcats return three of their top five-point scorers from last season, highlighted by Morgan Cupo and Corey Anderson.
Quinnipiac returns 14 players who played in at least ten contests last season, with seven of them starting more than ten games.

NEW FACES IN HAMDEN

The Bobcats welcome five newcomers to Hamden before the start of the 2026 season.
Quinnipiac brought in Tindra Biedermann (Arizona Western College), Chiara Peiter (Johannes Gutenberg Universität), and Skye Cuscuna (UMass) as transfers.
Coach Clarke brought in two first-years for the upcoming season: Beatrice Plouffe (Repentigny, Quebec, Canada) and Tatum O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.)

THE '26 SCHEDULE

The Bobcats will play 16 regular-season games, hosting seven contests at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden.
Quinnipiac's slate features four non-conference matchups, with three on the road (Holy Cross, North Carolina, UAlbany) and one in Hamden (Yale).
QU kicks off Metro play on September 5^th as they host the Niagara Purple Eagles at 12 PM.
Quinnipiac will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, November 4^th, on the road at Saint Peter's.
