Cupo's Late Strike Gives QU Win Over Marist
9/19/2026 5:36:00 PM | Women's Soccer
HAMDEN, CT – Morgan Cupo's strike in the 82nd minute stood as the game-winner in Quinnipiac's 2-1 win over Marist on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bobcats have won back-to-back Metro contests after dropping the conference opener to Niagara.
The Bobcats and Red Foxes were locked in a scoreless battle for the first thirty minutes of the contest before Quinnipiac broke the tie. QU earned a corner, and Stella Tosoni sent in the corner that grazed off the Marist keeper and into the back of the net to put the Bobcats up.
It wasn't long after that the Marist Red Foxes found the equalizer as they tied up the contest in the 43rd minute.
The second half was much of the same, back-and-forth action with no goals as the game remained 1-1 for most of the half. That was until Morgan Cupo broke the tie with a beautiful strike in the 82nd minute.
Quinnipiac was able to hold off Marist over the final eight minutes as the Bobcats improved to 2-1 in conference action.

COACH'S CORNER
"Happy, again, last time we were here was a disappointing loss. It was important; the reaction at Mount St. Mary's and Marist beat Sacred Heart… so it's a huge win in the context of the head-to-head, who they played, us getting back on track… three points is the most important thing, and we've had some great moments too." Quinnipiac Women's Soccer Head Coach Dave Clarke on his overall thoughts of the game
