Tim Capstraw to Serve as Keynote Speaker

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball program is set to kick off the 2025-26 season with a Tip-Off Reception at M&T Bank Arena on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.
The Bobcats invite you to an exclusive evening celebrating the start of the year. Join fellow alumni, fans, and friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the University Club at M&T Bank Arena. Former Wagner head basketball coach Tim Capstraw will serve as the keynote speaker for the event, and the night will also feature remarks from Director of Athletics Greg Amodio, Senior Associate AD Bill Mecca, and Quinnipiac Head Coach Tom Pecora.
Cost to attend will be $60 ($25 for any Quinnipiac faculty/staff). Ticket purchase includes the ceremony (food + drinks) and formal presentation. $10 of each ticket purchase will support the Men's Basketball program.

Quinnipiac men's basketball won its second consecutive MAAC regular season title last season (20-13, 15-5 MAAC). The Bobcats posted a 15-5 league record for the second straight year, and Head Coach Tom Pecora was named MAAC Coach of the Year in back-to-back campaigns.
QU will return two of its top three scorers from a season ago (2024-25 MAAC Player of the Year Amarri Monroe, MAAC All-Rookie selection Jaden Zimmerman).

ABOUT TIM CAPSTRAW:
- Tim Capstraw (nicknamed "The Capper") is the former head basketball coach at Wagner College. He led Wagner from 1989-1999, earning Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in 1992.
- Capstraw is currently a color commentator for the Brooklyn Nets and NBA TV.
- Capstraw was born and raised Utica, NY. He graduated from Wagner College in 1982 and the following year, at only 23 years old, he became the school's head baseball coach.
- In 1985 he became a basketball assistant at Siena College.
- In 1989, Capstraw returned to Wagner as head basketball coach. At the age of 29, he was the youngest coach in Division I.
- Capstraw's broadcasting career began with a three-year stint as a television and radio analyst for the Northeast Conference. During the 2001–02 season he was a television analyst for the Atlantic 10 Conference. He joined the Nets Radio broadcasts in the 2002-2003 NBA season. He has also filled in on YES Network's Nets telecasts.
