Two Bobcats Claim Gold at Day 1 of MAAC Championships

NEW YORK — After Day 1 of the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, the Quinnipiac women's indoor track and field team claimed four medals overall and a pair of victories, putting them in the thick of the race with championship Sunday on tap.
The Bobcats first claimed victory in the 5k, where Rachel St. Germain and Sierra Gray finished 1-2 in the race for the Bobcats. It was St. Germain's first gold at the MAAC Indoor Championships and Gray went to the MAAC podium for the first time in her collegiate career.
They followed it up with a distance medley relay to close off the night, with Weronika Lewna, Madelyn Durkee, Sophia Jones and Alessandra Zaffina fending off Canisius' squad to take the race by 4.17 seconds.
Overall on the track, the squad had 11 spots secured in Sunday finals.
In the field events, Sydney Lavelle grabbed the first podium finish, securing third in the long jump, marking 5.57m to finish third.
