Cerbone Records Natural Hat Trick as No. 15/16 Bobcats Dismiss Colgate
1/17/2025 10:56:00 PM | Men's Ice Hockey
HAMDEN, Conn. — Andon Cerbone ripped off a natural hat trick, changing a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead, and the No. 15/16 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program knocked off Colgate 6-3 at M&T Bank Arena on Friday night.
The Stamford, Conn. Native flipped the game upside down, recording his first collegiate hat trick and the second natural hat trick in 21 days for the Bobcats as they improved to 14-7-1 and 9-3-0 in league play, maintaining its top spot in the conference.
Colgate jumped out to a 3-1 lead, scoring all of its goals in the first 22:48 of the game as the visitors looked to take control before Cerbone went on his scoring tear.
The first goal of the night came off a deflection as a cross-ice feed deflected off a Colgate defender and in to make it 3-2, but that would be the only Bobcat goal in the second.
Cerbone scored the first two of the third to give Quinnipiac the lead for good, and Travis Treloar and Jack Ricketts added empty net tallies as the hosts scored thrice in the final 2:05 to ice away the victory.
STATS AND NOTES
Quinnipiac welcomes Cornell to M&T Bank Arena at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
