Women's Lax Heads to Monmouth for Saturday Matchup

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program heads south on Saturday afternoon, taking on a former conference foe in Monmouth. First draw is slated for 2:30 p.m., in West Long Branch, N.J., as part of a lacrosse doubleheader at the school.

Teams: Quinnipiac (0-3, 0-0 MAAC) at Monmouth (3-2, 0-0 CAA)

LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit against Sacred Heart on Wednesday afternoon, but the Pioneers would rattle off three of the final four goals to take a 14-12 victory in Fairfield.
Mia Delmond had a breakout day, scoring five goals and adding an assist to help power the Bobcat offense. Maggie Kennedy scored her first collegiate goals, recording a hat trick.

The Bobcats enter the weekend boasting one of the best teams on the ground in the MAAC, currently sitting third in ground balls per game and fourth in both draw percentage and draw controls per contest. Melissa Murphy leads the MAAC and is ninth nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.67), while Sparacio sits third in both free position goals per game and second in free position percentage.
Monmouth is second in the CAA, scoring 14.40 goals per game through their first five contests. They are coming off a matchup with MAAC newcomer Rider, which the Broncs won 12-10 on Feb. 27.

Monmouth took the latest matchup in the series, a 12-10 win in New Jersey on April 23, 2022. Maddie Noel, EllaGrace Delmond and Amy Nicoloff all recorded goals in the matchup.
The Hawks have won 21 of 26 contests in the series that dates back to 2001.
THE 2024 ERA
Quinnipiac opened its new season with local flare, as three regional foes highlight the opening to the new campaign. After heading to Yale on Wednesday, the Bobcats will host UMass Lowell on Saturday night before trekking back on the road to Sacred Heart on Feb. 28.
The Bobcats are coming off a 10-win season a year ago, heading to the MAAC Semifinals before falling to eventual champion Fairfield. They will host six games in Hamden this season, including two of the final three in April.
