Bobcats Make ECAC History as First Team Ever to Claim Four Straight Outright Regular Season Titles
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Cleary Cup will stay in Hamden.
The No. 7 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program defeated Brown by a 5-2 final on Friday night and that, combined with Cornell's overtime loss to Clarkson, clinched the Bobcats' fourth consecutive outright ECAC regular season title.
They are the first team in league history to win four consecutive solo titles and join Harvard from 1984-87 as the only two teams in league history to share or exclusively hold the trophy for four straight seasons.
The Bobcats flew out of the gates, scoring four goals in the final 6:17 of the opening frame to seize control of the contest. Andon Cerbone, Anthony Cipollone, Travis Treloar and Charles Alexis Legault ripped off the tallies.
Zach Tupker recorded the visitor's final tally of the night, ripping a slapshot under the bar to make it five unanswered to start the game.
