No. 9 Quinnipiac Secures Postseason Bye with Win over Union

Bobcats will host ECAC Quarterfinal Round March 15-17
HAMDEN, Conn. — The No. 9 Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team clinched a bye to the Quarterfinals of the ECAC Playoffs on Friday night, taking down Union 6-2 in front of 3,076 fans at M&T Bank Arena.
The Bobcats clinched a top four seed in March's conference postseason, guaranteeing home ice on the weekend of March 15-17 with a spot in Lake Placid on the line.
Quinnipiac raced out to a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes, with three different players potting goals with Iivari Räsänen's second of the year starting it on the power play.
Union cut the deficit to two on a pair of occasions in the middle frame, but Charles Alexis Legault and Jacob Quillan each scored in the third to give the Bobcats some distance down the stretch.
M&T Bank Arena has seen 11 consecutive victories by the Bobcats as they improved to 12-2-0 on the year in Hamden.

- Sophomore forward Alex Power recorded his first collegiate, multi-point outing with a pair of assists tonight.
- The Bobcats' six goals on the night are the most since a 9-2 victory over Princeton on Jan. 12 at home.
- 13 different skaters recorded a point tonight for Quinnipiac, the second-highest total of the season (Princeton, 16).
- Cooper Moore recorded his fifth, multi-assist game of the season and eighth multi-point game of his collegiate career.
- Legault now has two multi-point games in as many appearances and three in his collegiate career.
- Christophe Fillion had a goal and an assist tonight, the 12th multi-point outing of his career.
- Quillan has 19 multi-point games in his collegiate career, 18 of which have come in the last two seasons.
- Collin Graf extended his point streak to six games with an assist tonight, totaling eight during that span.
- Travis Treloar scored the second of the night for the Bobcats, bringing his point streak to seven games.
