Women's XC Opens Ranked Amongst Region's Best

NEW ORLEANS — A staple in the Northeast Regional Rankings a season ago, the Quinnipiac University women's cross country team will again open the 2023 campaign ranked amongst its ACC, Big East, Ivy League and other regional competitors, the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats sit 15th amongst the 37 teams in the region that encompass the Northeast Region before the season begins on Saturday afternoon on Long Island. The squad placed 12th in last season's regional championship meet at Van Cortlandt Park and was ranked as high as 10th throughout the regular season.
Quinnipiac opens the season in the regional rankings for the second consecutive season, something they had not done in 12 years prior to the 2022 campaign.
Carolyn Martin's club begins its six-meet regular season on Saturday at the Stony Brook Season Opener. They will also compete in a pair of highly-competitive national events, running at the Paul Short Invitational on Sept. 30 and the XC23 Pre-National Meet on Oct. 14 in Charlottesville, Va.
