QU Begins MAAC Title Defense on Sunday, Aug. 20 at Providence
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's soccer has revealed its schedule for the upcoming fall 2023 season, as announced by Head Coach Dave Clarke and the Bobcats on Monday, July 17.
The defending MAAC champion will play 15 regular season games in total – hosting nine contests at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden. The Bobcats will also host a pair of exhibition contests vs. Loyola and UConn prior to the start of the regular season.
"We're excited to begin our title defense this fall," Clarke said. "We have some tough preseason and non-conference opponents that will challenge us, which will help us prepare for our MAAC schedule. We have a good group of talented players for the upcoming season, and we're looking forward to getting started in August."
Quinnipiac will open up the regular season play on Sunday, Aug. 20, traveling to Providence for a non-conference matchup. The Bobcats continue the non-league slate with three consecutive home dates against Dartmouth (Aug. 27), Drexel (Sept. 1) and Stonehill (Sept. 4).
MAAC play begins on Saturday, Sept. 9, as the Bobcats will travel to Niagara for a rematch of the 2022 MAAC title matchup. QU then plays host to Princeton (Sept. 17) and Canisius (Sept. 23) before traveling to Rider (Sept. 30).
The month of October begins with another three-game homestand vs. Fairfield (Oct. 4), Iona (Oct. 7) and Marist (Oct. 11). Quinnipiac will travel to both Siena (Oct. 14) and Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 18) this season in MAAC play.
The Bobcats' final home matchup of the 2023 regular season campaign will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21 vs. Saint Peter's. QU will travel to Manhattan for the regular-season finale (Oct. 25).
The Bobcats went 15-3-1 (9-1 MAAC) last season, capturing their first-ever MAAC title in Hamden on Nov. 6. QU defeated No. 5 Canisius, 1-0, in the MAAC Semifinals, then bested No. 3 Niagara, 4-0, in the championship round to complete the historic run.
Quinnipiac scored 2.84 goals per game in 2022 – good for the second-highest scoring average in the entire nation. The Bobcats finished No. 46 nationally in RPI.
