PHILADELPHIA — A pair of Quinnipiac school records were bested as part of the night one action at Penn Relays on Thursday night at historic Franklin Field.
To begin the night, Alessandra Zaffina re-set her 3000m Steeplechase mark, knocking 11 seconds off her previous best. She clocked in at 10:21.22, winning her heat and placing ninth overall in the event.
In the final women's event of the night, Lauren Selkin did something that hadn't been done since 2007 by a Bobcat: run a 10k in under 36:14.91. She finished the race in 36:04.00, good for a new program record. She was as low as 16th in the race but climbed up half the field, finishing eighth in the event.
Rachel St. Germain also ran a personal-best time, improving her 5k mark to 16:43.87. She finished seventh in her heat and 36th overall in the 5k, while Liv DiStefano clocked in at 16:56.84, good for 15th in the heat and 50th overall.
