Zaffina Closes Season at NCAA East First Round Meet

MAAC Steeplechase Champion Places 23rd out of nation's best 48 in event
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Alessandra Zaffina capped the 2024-25 athletic year for Quinnipiac University at the 2025 NCAA East First Round Meet, held at the University of North Florida, placing 23rd overall in the 3000m Steeplechase event.
The Trumbull, Conn., native finished ninth in her heat, running a 10:18.44 to close her collegiate career in the event. It is her second-fastest time ever and was three seconds faster than her MAAC Championship-winning time from the beginning of the month.
A four-time MAAC winner in the 3000m Steeplechase, she was the third Bobcat to represent the program on the NCAA stage, joining her other appearance in 2023 and Mikah Maples, who qualified for the javelin in 2022.
