Bobcats Finish Off Competition in Columbia, Lawrenceville

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track and field team split up this weekend, with athletes competing at both the USC Open in South Carolina and the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J.
At Rider, QU was led by a pair of winning efforts from Alessandra Zaffina and Rachel St. Germain in their respective events. Zaffina (2:14.97) took the top spot in the 800m, while St. Germain (4:34.38) was first to cross the line in the 1500m event.
Five other Bobcats claimed Top 5 finishes in their respective events, as Marisa Keiser (17:56.84) claimed fourth in the 5k, Lauren Selkin (4:44.66) finished fourth in the 1500m and Lydia Keys (11:40.62) claimed that spot in the 3000m Steeple.
Ana Caliri and Hayley Brooks each finished fifth in their respective events, with Caliri clocking in at 11:44.02 in the 3000m Steeple and Brookes finishing in 1:09.35 in the 400m Hurdles.
A pair of Bobcats finished in the Top 10 in Columbia, with Christina Gunsalus (2:14.74) placing seventh in the 800m, while Sydney Lavelle (1:04.24) took tenth in the 400m hurdles.
The squad's 4x100 relay team of Izzie Anzaldo, Rylie Smith, Sydney Lavelle and Nyasia Dailey cracked the program's top 10 list, with a 48.17 finish, good for seventh on the charts.
UP NEXT
Two more meets await on the schedule next weekend as the final buffer between regular season and Championship action. The Bobcats will head to Penn Relays, which begin Thursday in Philadelphia. They will wrap up their slate on Sunday afternoon at the Yale Springtime Invitational in New Haven.
