Bobcats Claim Fourth Straight Nutmeg Classic Championship

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The No. 7/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team captured its fourth straight Nutmeg Classic Championship, topping No. 13/12 Yale 3-0, in New Haven, Conn on Saturday night.
The two teams traded chances early in the first period before the scoreless tie was broken with just under a minute left by Kate Reilly on a one-timer set up by Veronica Bac.
Kendall Cooper would add to that lead with just over two minutes left in the second period on a backhand shot over the Yale goaltender's shoulder.
Logan Angers stifled the Bulldogs offense the entire game, making several big stops.
Nina Steigauf hit the empty net with just over a minute left to put the game out of reach.

The Bobcats return to the ice next weekend, hosting Union and RPI at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden. Friday's game is set 6:00 PM and Saturday's puck drop will be at 3:00 PM.

- The Bobcats have now won four straight Nutmeg Classic Championships and eight games in a row in the tournament, outscoring opponents 26-9 over that span.
- QU now has won both games over Yale this season by a combined score of 9-3.
- Logan Angers was named tournament Most Outstanding Player with 68 saves over the two games.
- Angers recorded her third shutout of the season while making a season-high 36 saves.
- Logan Angers has made 30-plus saves in each of her last three games for the first time in her career.
