Bobcats Set To Host Quinnipiac Classic

WALLINGFORD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's golf program returns to action this week, as the Bobcats host the Quinnipiac Classic. The tournament will take place at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, Conn. and will run on Monday and Tuesday.

- The Bobcats will be hosting the Quinnipiac Classic for the third straight season.
- QU finished the tournament a year ago tied for second place out of 11 teams.
- Quinnipiac had two golfers finish in the top 10, Kaylee Sakoda, who won the tournament, and Leeyen Peralta, who tied for eighth place.
- The Bobcats return to action for the first time this season, as the last time we saw them, they concluded play at the NCAA Regionals at the Palm Beach Gardens Regional.
- Quinnipiac returns seven members from last year's team that won the MAAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regionals
- The Bobcats have six tournaments scheduled for their fall season in 2023 and will wrap up at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational (October 21-22) in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
- Leeyen Peralta returns for her fifth year in the fall of 2023
- She competed in 11 events and averaged 74.52 strokes per round.
- Her average 74.52 strokes per round is an all-time program best.
- Peralta earned six top-10 finishes and five top-five finishes on the campaign.
- She recorded a team-best 68 birdies on the season, while also setting the program record
- Her 11 rounds for par or better tied the program record.
- Peralta earned All-MAAC honors for the third straight season.
- She shot a career three-round best at the MAAC Championships, shooting a 216 (E).
- Fuge Zhang returns for her junior season in 2023.
- She appeared in 12 events last season, averaging 77.19 strokes per round.
- Zhang was named MAAC Golfer of the Year after she came in first place at the MAAC Championships.
- She shot a career three-round best 214 (-2) at the MAAC Championship in 2022
- Her 214 (-2) at the MAAC Championship stands as the best three-round all-time score at the tournament.
- Zhang notched four top-ten finishes and came in the top-five three times.
- Zhang earned All-MAAC honors for the second straight season.
