POWER(LESS) PLAY
- Quinnipiac's penalty kill ended last season on a hot streak and has begun the 2023-24 season the same way. The Bobcats finished last season killing off 25 consecutive opponent power play opportunities, including a perfect 11-for-11 in the NCAA Tournament, and have started this year the same way.
- QU is 14-for-14 in penalty kill opportunities this season, extending its streak to 39 consecutive goalless opponent power plays heading into the weekend.
LOOK AT THIS GRAF
- After leaving in the first half of the first period against Boston College, Collin Graf came back with a vengeance in his return to the ice with a five-point performance against AIC on Oct. 14.
- It is his third-such performance since joining the Bobcats last season as he jumps to the top of the team leaderboard. He recorded five points in back to back games a season ago against RPI and Union on Dec. 9 and 10. It is tied with Dylann Wendt for the most points by a player this season in an NCAA game
WINNIN', WINNIN', JACOB QUILLAN
- Jacob Quillan did what Jacob Quillan does on Friday night in Springfield, Mass.: score overtime winners. For the second time in three outings, the Nova Scotia native potted an OT winner that send the Bobcats in celebration. This time, he took a cross-ice pass from Davis Pennington and waited out the Yellow Jackets' defenders and goaltender to slot the winner.
EIGHT IS GR8
- For the third time at M&T Bank Arena in the last 10 months, the Bobcats potted eight goals past an opposing goaltender, this time in shutout fashion in an 8-0 victory over AIC on Oct. 14.
- The Bobcats join Minnesota Duluth and Omaha as the three teams in NCAA Men's D1 hockey this season to hit that number in a single game.
MEMORABLE DEBUT
- Mason Marcellus scored in his first collegiate game on Oct. 7, finding a loose puck behind the BC netminder and stuffing it home to tie the game with 5:28 to go in regulation.
- He became the second Bobcat in as many seasons to score in their collegiate debut, with Charles Alexis Legault scoring in his first collegiate action against Oct. 7, 2022, also against Boston College in a 4-0 win.
HOME SWEET HOME
- Quinnipiac enters the 2023-24 campaign with five players from the state of Connecticut, the most since the program turned Division I. The Bobcats host five of the 42 players from CT on their roster.
- A pair of granite state players return from last season in Victor Czerneckianair and Timothy Heinke, while Cooper Moore came home after three years at North Dakota and Matthew McGroarty and Andon Cerbone chose to play their college hockey in their home states.
