
First-Years Shine in Bobcats' Loss Against Fordham

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team went the distance with Fordham, eventually falling in five sets, 3-2, on the road Saturday afternoon inside of Pritchard Gymnasium.
Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with a career-high 22 kills and seven digs, while Damla Gunes contributed a career-high 55 assists and 12 digs for her first collegiate double-double

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
The Bobcats found themselves trailing the Rams early in the set, 6-1. However, Quinnipiac responded with an 8-3 run to tie the set at 9-9. Four different Bobcats recorded a kill on the run to knot the set. However, Fordham countered with a 3-0 run before Quinnipiac called a timeout trailing 12-9.
Out of the halt, QU scored three points off a kill apiece from Nicole Legg and Aryanah Diaz, as well as a Fordham attack error. Fordham withstood Quinnipiac's run and responded with a 7-2 run to force Quinnipiac to burn its final timeout behind 19-13. The deficit proved to be too much for the Bobcats, as Fordham held on for the 25-16 set win.
SET TWO (23-25)
The two sides traded points to a 7-7 tie before Quinnipiac went on a 7-2 run to take a 14-9 lead before Fordham called a timeout. Ginevra Giovagnoni and Nicole Legg combined to tally five of Quinnipiac's seven points on the run behind five kills.
Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac built its lead to 17-11 before Fordham fought back to trim its deficit to 23-22 before Quinnipiac called a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats took two of the next three points, capped by a kill from Diaz to take the set 25-23.
SET THREE (24-26)
The two sides exchanged points to a 15-15 tie before QU pushed ahead 20-17 to force a Fordham timeout. Out of the timeout, the Rams went on a 4-0 run to take a 21-20 lead to force Quinnipiac to take a timeout. After falling behind 22-20, Quinnipiac went on a 4-0 run behind a kill apiece from Bailey Brashear, Giorgia Donghi and Tennon. However, the Rams fought back to tie the set at 24-24 before Brashear and Tennon closed the set to secure the set win for the Bobcats, 26-24.
SET FOUR (25-23)
The Bobcats found themselves behind 13-5 before battling back to tie the set at 16-16. Trailing 17-16, the Bobcats went on a 6-3 run to take a 23-20 lead. However, the Rams took the next five points to secure the set win.
SET FIVE (15-8)
The Rams jumped out to an 8-2 lead and never looked back, holding on for the 15-8 set win and match victory
