
Bobcats Fall in Opener at Stony Brook, 3-0

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac volleyball program returned to action for the first time in 2022 to open a new campaign and fell short on the road against Stony Brook in the opener, 3-0, Friday evening inside of Pritchard Gymnasium.
Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with nine kills in her first collegiate match, while Chloe Ka'Ahanui contributed 10 assists in the contest.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
The Bobcats fell behind 8-4 early in the set before back-to-back service aces from Stony Brook extended its lead to 10-4, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. The Seawolves extended their lead to as much as 18-6 before going on to secure the first set 25-14.
SET TWO (25-23)
The Bobcats jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the second set, capped by a service ace from Alexandra Tennon to force a Stony Brook timeout. The Seawolves battled back out of timeout with an 8-2 run to take a 12-10 lead. Both sides played to a 17-17 tie before a Stony Brook attack error gave the Bobcats a one-point advantage.
QU built its lead to 20-17 before Stony Brook burned its final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, the Seawolves rallied to knot the score at 23-23 before QU called a timeout. Out of the pause in play, Stony Brook scored back-to-back points to secure the second set.
SET THREE (25-16)
The Seawolves went ahead 15-9 and never looked back in the set. Stony Brook increased its lead to 17-10 before Quinnipiac called a timeout. The deficit proved to be too much for the Bobcats, as the Seawolves took the set, 25-16 and eventually the match, 3-0.
