HAMDEN, Conn. - David Scrivines was announced as the head coach of the Quinnipiac University Men's Cross Country program on Monday, Aug. 1. Scrivines holds over 25 years of coaching and teaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels.
Prior to Quinnipiac, Scrivines spent the previous five seasons as the head coach of the Fairfield University Men's and Women's Cross Country programs.
Both the men's and women's squads have made positive strides during Scrivines' tenure. At the 2019 MAAC Championship, the women recorded an eighth place finish -- their best showing at the conference meet since 2013 -- and then improved further with a seventh-place showing at the spring 2021 edition of the meet.
For the men, Robert Dillon placed 22nd at the spring 2021 championship, less than 15 seconds shy of earning All-MAAC status. Also Fairfield's top finisher at the 2019 MAAC Championship, his 22nd-place showing in 2021 was the best for a Stag since the 2016 conference meet.
The head cross country coach of St. Joseph High School in Trumbull from 2000-16, Scrivines was also an assistant basketball coach for the Cadets. He previously coached cross country, track and field, and basketball in Connecticut dating back to 1996.
Scrivines also worked as a scout for the Colorado Rockies and Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau and is currently a pro scout for the Boston Red Sox.
Scrivines graduated from Springfield College in 1998 with a degree in sports management and a minor in business administration. He holds a master's degree in school health education as well as multiple teaching certificates from Southern Connecticut State University. While at Springfield College, Scrivines was a four-year runner with the cross country program.
Scrivines was also a physical education, health and psychology teacher at St. Joseph High School from 2006-17. He is currently an adjunct professor in Post University's Sports Management program.
