Maples Leads Bobcats at JMU Invite, Gay Breaks School Record in 200m

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Quinnipiac outdoor track & field competed at the JMU Invite on Saturday, April 16. Mikah Maples led the Bobcats with an outstanding performance in the field, tallying a first-place finish and two second-place finishes. Numerous Bobcats tallied career-best times in their events.
Aisha Gay also the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.16.

- Alessandra Zaffina took first place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:55.38. Madeleine Shellard finished in seventh place with a time of 12:24.31.
- In the 100m hurdles, Symone Foster finished in third place with a time of 13.87, which is a new career-best time for the senior. Kalli'ana Botelho took seventh place with a time of 14.45.
- Hayden Robinson placed eighth overall in the 100m with a time of 12.51, which is a career-best time.
- Aisha Gay finished third in the 200m with a time of 24.16, which is a career-best and record breaking time for QU. Foster took ninth place in the same event with a time of 25.37. Robinson finished in 12th place with a time of 25.66. Eileen Donovan finished in 23rd place (28.12).
- In the 400m, Alyssa Romagnoli finished in second place with a time of 56.55, which is a personal-best time. Rylie Smith finished in eighth place with a season-best time (59.54). Eileen Donovan took 12th place (1:03.24) and Camille Blain finished in 13th with a career-best time (1:03.98).
- Heather Feuchtenberger took third place in the 800m with a time of 2:14.38, which is a career-best time. Asia Mercier placed sixth with a time of 2:16.19, which is also a personal-best time. Brooke Hagen finished in eighth place with a time of 2:18.21. Christina Gunsalus finished in 11th place with a time of 2:21.47, which is a season-best time for the first year.
- Emily Young placed second in the 1500m with a time of 4:35.34. Right behind Young was Liv DiStefano, notching a time of 4:45.73 in third. In seventh place, Clare Veverka notched a time of 4:52.68, which is a new career best. Cassidy Phillips placed eighth with a personal-best time of 4:54.02, and Katie Bradley took ninth with a time of 4:57.94. In 12th place, Jada Dennis tallied a time of 5:09.19.
- Amanda Carlson finished seventh in the 3000m with a time of 10:30.45, which is a career-best time. Grace Michaud placed 11th (10:57.22), Shannon Goria took 12th (10:58.92), and Kate Gihorski took 13th (11:05.98). Ana Caliri finished in 16th with a time of 11:15.04.
- The team of Symone Foster, Kalli'ana Botelho, Britney Del Mundo and Aisha Gay took second place in the 4x100m relay, tallying a time of 47.19. The second team of Avery Jordan, Rylie Smith, Jordan Mayo and Hayden Robinson took fifth place in the same relay with a time of 49.39.
- Three different teams competed in the 4x400m relay. The team of Smith, Romagnoli, Del Mundo and Gay finished in second place (3:56.69). The second team of Mercier, Feuchtenberger, Hagen and Young finished in third (4:02.40). The third team of Gunsalus, Dennis, Bradley, and Veverka finished in fifth (4:18.20).
- Mikah Maples finished first in the shot put with a 13.56m mark. Maples also tallied a second-place finish in the javelin with a 46.21m throw, which is a career-best mark. In addition, Maples took second place in the discus (43.43m).
- In the javelin, Amanda Minervino notched a seventh-place finish (35.32m), and Grace Davis took 14th place (24.82m).
- Del Mundo finished sixth in the triple jump with a 11.34m mark. Camille Sweet tallied a 10.70m mark, finishing in 10th.
