Urban Tallies First Goal of the Season as Bobcats Post Third Shutout in a Row

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— The Bobcats move to 15-1-0, 7-1-0 ECAC after recording their third straight shutout, blanking Union 5-0 on Friday, December 2, at Messa Rink. Maya Labad tallied two goals on the night and graduate netminder Logan Angers recorded her fifth shutout of the year. The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team now has eight shutouts this season and seven games with five or more goals.
Junior Sophie Urban scored her first of the year, unassisted, in the second period to put the Bobcats up by four. Junior defender Kendall Cooper and graduate forward Shay Maloney also put goals up against Union.

- (4:08, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 1, Union 0—Maya Labad scored four minutes into the first to give the Bobcats an early lead. Labad picked up a shot that went wide from Sophie Urban to cycle through the offensive zone where she split the defense and went over the left side of Union goaltender Sophie Matsoukas.
- (13:05, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 2, Union 0—QU's second goal of the night came from junior Kendall Cooper as she buried a pass top shelf from Maddy Samoskevich over the left side of Matsoukas in the slot.
- (16:12, 1st period, EV) Quinnipiac 3, Union 0—Labad's second of the night started with a turnover by the Dutchwomen in the neutral zone that senior defender Kate Reilly passed up to Sadie Peart who redirected it to Labad. Labad carried the puck through three Dutchwomen into Union territory to force a breakaway where she went five hole on Matsoukas.
- (1:54, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 4, Union 0—Junior Sophie Urban scored her first of the year, unassisted, after Matsoukas let up a juicy rebound that found Urban right in front of the crease which she buried in the back of the net with ease.
- (18:11, 2nd period, EV) Quinnipiac 5, Union 0—The Mobley-Maloney-Chantler line all recorded a point on the fifth Bobcat goal of the night. Shay Maloney corralled an Olivia Mobley rebound that hit the post and found Maloney in the face off dot. Maloney put a backhander on the left pad of Matsoukas before burying her own rebound and securing the Bobcats 15th win.
NOTES
- Quinnipiac marked their third straight shutout against the Dutchwomen, the last time the Bobcats had back-to-back-to-back shutouts was in Sept. 24-Oct. 2, 2022 against Maine (3-0), Boston College (5-0), and New Hampshire (2-0).
- Maya Labad has scored a goal in the last four games and tallied her third multigoal night.
- The Mobley-Maloney-Chantler line now have 55 points collectively, comprising a third of the team's total points this season.
