Gunes Posts Double-Double in Bobcats Sweep over Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – First year outside hitter Yagmur Gunes led the way with 10 kills and 10 digs for the first double-double of her collegiate career, as the Quinnipiac volleyball team downed Manhattan in straight sets on the road inside of Draddy Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Yagmur Gunes added a career-high six service aces, while Milena Martinon and Aryanah Diaz contributed eight kills apiece in the sweep.

SET ONE (25-13, Quinnipiac)
Quinnipiac came out of the gates on fire, building a 10-1 lead rapidly in the set. After Manhattan cut its deficit to 12-6, Quinnipiac built the lead back up to 20-10 before taking the set 25-13.
SET TWO (25-16)
The two sides played to a 7-7 tie in the set before Quinnipiac went on an 8-2 run to push ahead 15-9, forcing a Manhattan timeout. Out of the timeout, the Jaspers went on a 5-2 run to trim their deficit to 17-14 to force a Quinnipiac timeout. Out of the second break, Quinnipiac pushed its lead to 21-16 before Manhattan called its final timeout of the set.
The Bobcats stayed hot out of the break, taking four straight points to win the second set, 25-16.
SET THREE (25-11)
The Bobcats jumped out to a 4-1 lead behind two service aces from Faavae Kimsel Moe. After Manhattan fought back to tie the match 8-8, Quinnipiac built its lead back up to 14-9 before Manhattan called a timeout. The Bobcats never looked back in the set, cruising to a 25-11 set win and 3-0 match victory
