Bobcats Come Up Short at #11 Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Despite 16 points from Mikala Morris, Quinnipiac women's basketball fell short on the road at No. 11 Indiana, 92-55 Sunday afternoon inside of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
With the loss, Quinnipiac fell to 2-2, while No. 11 Indiana improved to 5-0. Behind Morris' team-high 16 points, Jackie Grisdale added 10 points in the loss.
The Bobcats used the opening 2:40 of the contest to jump out to an 8-6 lead behind six swift points from Mikala Morris. However, the Hoosiers used the final six minutes of the period to outscore Quinnipiac 21-4 to take a 27-12 lead into the second quarter.
The two sides stayed relatively even through the second quarter with Qunnipiac narrowly outscoring Indiana 12-11 through the first 7:30 of the period. However, the Hoosiers turned up the pressure on defense, holding the Bobcats to three points the rest of the half, while putting up 11 points themselves to take a 49-26 lead into the break.
The Hoosiers maintained their defensive pressure in the third quarter, forcing the Bobcats to shoot 23.5% from the floor in the frame. Indiana took a 69-37 lead into the third quarter and the deficit proved to be too much for Quinnipiac, as the Hoosiers held on for the eventual 92-55 victory.
