Bobcats Sweep Saint Peter's Behind Gunes' Double-Double

HAMDEN, Conn. – Aryanah Diaz led the Bobcats with 13 kills, as the Quinnipiac volleyball team downed Saint Peter's in straight sets at home inside of Burt Kahn Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Nicole Legg totaled nine kills, three digs and three blocks, Damla Gunes recorded 28 assists and 11 digs for a double-double and Faavae Kimsel Moe led Quinnipiac with 14 digs.

SET ONE (26-24, Quinnipiac)
The two sides traded points until Quinnipiac inched ahead 9-5 in the set. The Bobcats were able to build their lead to 14-8 before Saint Peter's burned its first timeout of the set. The Peacocks responded with a 6-2 run out of the break to trim the deficit to 16-14, forcing Quinnipiac to call its first timeout of the set.
Out of the break, the two sides battled with QU maintaining a two-point lead at 22-20 before an Aryanah Diaz service ace pushed the Bobcats ahead 23-20 before Saint Peter's called a timeout. After the Peacocks tied the set at 24-24, back-to-back kills from Nicole Legg secured the set win for the Bobcats.
SET TWO (25-10)
The Bobcats opened the set with an 8-2 run before the Peacocks used their first timeout of the set. Quinnipiac never wavered in the set, building its lead to 17-4 before cruising to a 25-10 set victory.
SET THREE (25-18)
After playing to a 6-6 tie in the set, the Bobcats went on a 5-0 run to push ahead 11-6 before the Peacocks called their first timeout of the set. Out of the break in action, Saint Peter's went on a 5-0 run to tie the set at 11-11. However, Quinnipiac responded with a 8-2 run to push ahead 19-13 and never looked back, going on to take the set 25-18 and the match, 3-0.
