Diaz and Gunes Record Double-Doubles in Bobcats' Loss vs. Iona

HAMDEN, Conn. – Aryanah Diaz tallied her seventh double-double of the season behind 20 kills and 16 digs, as the Bobcats came up short at home against Iona, 3-1, Saturday afternoon on Burt Kahn Court.
Alexandra Tennon added 17 kills and nine digs, while Damla Gunes contributed 40 assists and 14 digs for a double-double in the contest.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
Both teams traded points to a 9-9 tie in the set before Iona scored two straight points to go up 11-9, forcing a Bobcats timeout. Iona would go on to build a five point lead, 19-14, to force Quinnipiac to use their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac would score three straight points off their own timeout to bring them within 2, 19-17. Iona would be forced to call their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Iona and Quinnipiac traded points before Iona pulled away and took the first set.
Iona was able to take the last two points to secure the set point.
SET TWO (17-25)
Quinnipiac jumped out to an early 7-3 lead before Iona brought the game back within one at 8-7. Quinnipiac responded and stretched their lead to 16-10 to force Iona to take their first timeout of the set. After the Bobcats extended the lead to seven, Iona responded and brought the lead down to five, 20-15, to force Quinnipiac to take their first timeout of the set.
Quinnipiac never looked back as they would score three straight points to take the set 25-17.
SET THREE (25-20)
The Bobcats and Gaels traded points to start the third start before Iona took a 15-11 lead to pressure Quinnipiac into taking a timeout. Iona kept the pressure on and took a 22-19 lead to force Quinnipiac to take their final timeout of the set. Iona took three straight points to capture the third set, 25-20.
SET FOUR (25-22)
Quinnipiac gained an early 11-6 lead before Iona scored the next three points to make it 11-9 and force Quinnipiac to use their first timeout in the set. Iona took the lead off of five straight points to lead 14-12. The Gaels extended their lead to four, 19-15, to force Quinnipiac into taking their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac won a long point to bring the fourth set to a 23-19 score in favor of Iona. Iona took their first timeout of the set with a four point lead. A Bobcats service error gave Iona the set and match point.
Iona took the fourth set, 25-22.
