HAMDEN, Conn. – Aryanah Diaz tallied 15 kills and 17 digs for a double-double, as the Bobcats fell just short in the home-opener against Marist, 3-2, Wednesday evening on Burt Kahn Court.

Nicole Legg added 13 kills and eight blocks, Lexi Morse contributed 11 kills and Alexandra Tennon tallied 10 kills and seven digs in the match.

SET ONE (25-22, Marist)
The two sides exchanged points to a 14-14 tie in the set before Marist scored three straight points to go up 17-14, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. The Red Foxes were able to build their lead to 20-16 before QU cut the deficit to 20-18 to force a Marist timeout. The Bobcats fought back to tie the set at 21-21 to force Marist to burn their final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, the Red Foxes went up 23-22, forcing QU to use its final timeout of the set.

Out of the timeout, Marist took the next two points to secure the set point.

SET TWO (21-25)
The Bobcats came out in the second set on fire, jumping out to a 6-1 lead to force a Marist timeout. However, the Red Foxes stormed back to tie the set at 9-9. After falling behind 15-12, the Bobcats fought back to tie the set at 16-16 before Nicole Legg powered up for a kill to put QU up 17-16 and forcing a Marist timeout.

With the set tied at 20-20, QU went on a 5-2 run to push ahead and take the set 25-22. .

SET THREE (25-14)
The Bobcats found themselves down 8-4 in the set before falling behind 10-5 and calling timeout. QU found itself down by as much as 19-9 in the set before eventually falling, 25-14 in the period.

SET FOUR (21-25)
The two sides played to a 10-10 tie in the set before a 2-0 run gave QU a 12-10 lead, capped by a service ace from Legg. The Bobcats were able to push ahead 18-15, forcing Marist to burn a timeout. Out of the break, QU increased its lead to 23-19, capped by a service ace from Aryanah Diaz. The Red Foxes fought back to cut the deficit to 23-21 in the set, forcing QU to burn its first timeout of the set.

SET FIVE (15-10)
Quinnipiac jumped ahead 4-1, forcing Marist to burn a timeout in the set. Marist scored three straight out of the timeout to knot the set at 4-4, forcing QU to call a timeout. With the set tied at 6-6, Marist scored two straight points to go up 8-6 before the two teams switched sides. The Bobcats went down as much as 9-6 before trimming the deficit to 10-9. However, Marist pushed ahead 12-9 before holding on for the set and match win.
