Damla Gunes Posts 44 Assists in Bobcats' Loss vs. Siena at Home

HAMDEN, Conn. – Aryanah Diaz tallied 20 kills and 15 digs for her eighth double-double of the season, as the Bobcats fell short in four sets at home against Siena on Wednesday evening on Burt Kahn Court.
Damla Gunes added 44 assists in the contest, while Alexandra Tennon added 11 kills to extend her double-figure kill streak to 13 consecutive matches.

SET ONE (25-22, Siena)
The two sides traded points early in the set before Siena slowly pulled ahead 16-13. The Saints pushed their lead to 19-15 in the set, forcing Quinnipiac to use a timeout trailing by four. Out of the break, QU went on a 7-3 run to knot the set at 22-22 to force Siena to burn a timeout.
Out of the timeout, Siena took two straight points to go up set point to 22, forcing QU to use its final timeout of the set. Out of the break the Saints scored on a kill, taking the set 25-22.
SET TWO (24-26)
QU found itself trailing 6-3 before using its first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Siena was able to build its lead to as much as 16-12 before the Bobcats clawed back to cut the deficit to 16-14 to force Siena to burn a timeout. Out of the break, QU stormed back to tie the set at 17-17, capped by a service ace from Faavae Kimsel Moe.
The two sides battled to a 24-24 tie in the set before a Siena attack error gave QU set point. From there Alexandra Tennon scored a kill to secure the set win for QU.
SET THREE (26-24)
The Bobcats opened the set on fire, going on a 10-3 run to start the set before Siena called a timeout. The Saints were able to cut the score to as close as 14-10 before the Bobcats extended the lead to 20-13 to force Siena to use its final timeout of the set. The Saints stormed back with a 12-4 run to go up 25–24, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. Out of the halt in play, Siena scored a kill to steal the set 26-24.
SET FOUR (25-22)
The two sides played to an 18-18 tie in the set before Siena slowly crept ahead 20-18, forcing QU to burn its final timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac took four of the next six points to tie the set at 22-22. However the Saints would take the next three points to secure the set and match victory.

● Damla Gunes posted a team-high 44 assists
● Damla Gunes has tallied 30 or more assists in seven matches this season
● She has recorded 40 or more assists in three matches this season and has done so twice in her last three games
● Aryanah Diaz contributed 20 kills and 15 digs for her eighth double-double of the season
● Diaz has recorded a double-double in six MAAC matches
