LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Quinnipiac men's soccer earned its third MAAC win of the 2022 campaign on Wednesday night, downing Rider by the final score of 3-0 on the road.

Sam McCann scored each of QU's first two goals of the contest, then Alexander Stjernegaard added an insurance strike in the 69^th minute. Erik Langwagen assisted on a pair of goals.

Karl Netzell made five saves for the Bobcats, earning his second shutout of the year.

With the victory, QU moves to 3-1-0 in MAAC play (8-3-1 overall).

First Half

(38' – Quinnipiac 1, Rider 0): Sam McCann got the Bobcats on the board first. Tomas Svecula played a long through ball ahead to McCann, and the junior finished with his right foot – his sixth goal of the season – to make it 1-0 QU.

Second Half

(56' – Quinnipiac 2, Rider 0): Sam McCann scored his second goal of the day just over 10 minutes into the second half to extend the Bobcats' advantage. Erik Langwagen played a beautiful ball just over the Rider defense with his left foot, and McCann headed it into the back of the net.

Sam McCann's scored twice for QU, raising his season scoring total to six. McCann now has 10 career goals (4 as a first-year, 6 more as a sophomore).
Erik Langwagen chipped in with two assists on the day, raising his season total of helpers to four.
Alexander Stjernegaard added the Bobcats' third goal of the night. The first-year midfielder is up to 16 points – which ranks second on the team.
Brage Aasen and Tomas Svecula each earned an assist for QU.
Total shots finished at 12-11 in favor of Rider.
Karl Netzell made five saves, including a pair of impressive stops in the first half to keep things scoreless. The shutout is Netzell's second of the new season, and Quinnipiac fourth clean sheet so far this year as a team.
QU has won three of the last five matchups between the two teams. The Bobcats are 5-7 against Rider since joining the MAAC (2013).
